Program Logic - you either love it or hate it - but its a vital tool that helps us clearly link our project outcomes to project activities.
As extension agents we are funded to create change in our rural communities and industries. Believe it or not, we aren't funded to deliver activities; the activities are just the vehicle to create the change. Program logic lets us plan the desired outcomes required, and steps the project team (and activities) through the timeframe to change.
The AgInnovate team are often contracted to deliver a range of 'activities' for different industry and government bodies. We always ask to see the program logic as that guides us in the stakeholders we engage, the activities we run, the researchers we engage, and the discussions we facilitate during the activities. All of these things matter when you want adoption.
Program logic is essential when designing the evaluation program. It helps us tailor our monitoring activities and gives the project team the outcomes to measure during evaluation.
Program logic is your friend. Program logic is fun. And yes . . . . . we may be one of the few in Australia to think that!
